Signer addresses are the Ethereum accounts of Heimdall validator nodes. The signer address signs and submits checkpoint transactions. The owner key should be kept secure and used infrequently.

Change the Signer Address

This process refers to your current validator node as Node 1 and your new validator node as Node 2.
1

Log in to the staking dashboard with Node 1 address

2

Edit Profile and update signer details

  • In the Signer’s address field, enter the Node 2 address.
  • In the Signer’s public key field, enter the Node 2 public key. To get the public key, run on Node 2:
    heimdalld show-account

3

Save changes

Node 1 remains the owner (controls stake, receives rewards). Node 2 becomes the signer (signs blocks and checkpoints).

Set Up Your Commission Rate as a Validator

  • Validators can set and change their commission rate at any time.
  • Commission can be any value from 0% to 100% of rewards earned.
  • Commission is set during initial staking and can be changed later.

Change Your Commission Rate

1

Log in to the staking dashboard with your owner address

2

Edit Profile and update the Commission field

3

Your commission rate will be updated. There is a cooldown period of 80 checkpoints after each change.
You can change your commission rate as often as needed. Inform the community when you do so.
