How to Stake Tokens

1. Open the Staking App

• Go to shib.io/defi/staking.
• You will land on the Stake tab by default.

2. Select Token

• Use the dropdown to select which token to stake (SHIB, TREAT, LEASH, or BONE).

3. Choose Amount

• Set the amount to stake using the slider (min: 0.2, max: your wallet balance).

​

4. Set Locking Period

• Use the lock period slider to choose your lock duration.
• The minimum is the next upcoming Thursday; the maximum is 4 years (always a Thursday, as voting power is recalculated weekly).

5. Approve Token (if required)

• If this is your first time staking a token, click Approve and confirm the transaction in your wallet.

​

6. Stake Tokens

• Click the Stake button.
• Sign the transaction in your wallet.
• After confirmation, you’ll see a success screen.

​

7. Voting Power (veToken)

• When you stake, you receive a veToken (e.g., veTREAT for TREAT) representing your voting power.
• You can use this voting power on ShibDAO.

8. Manage Staking

• Go to the Manage Staking tab or shib.io/defi/staking/manage.
• See a dashboard of all your staked tokens.
• You should be able to reStake or unStake your veTokens.

8. Update Staking (reStaking)

• Go to the Manage Staking tab or shib.io/defi/staking/manage.
• Click Add Stake to change your staked amount or lock period.
• You can update the amount, the lock period, or both.
• If you increase the amount and need approval, approve first, then update.
• Updating only the lock period usually requires one transaction.
• Updating both amount and lock period may require two transactions, or three if approval is needed.

9. Withdraw Stake (unStaking)

• Go to the Manage Staking tab or shib.io/defi/staking/manage.
• In the Manage Staking tab, click Withdraw for the token you want to unstake.
• You’ll be redirected to the withdraw/unstake page.
• You can withdraw all at once. Note: Early withdrawal (before lock ends) incurs a 30% penalty (you receive 70% of your stake).
• Click Confirm Withdraw and sign the transaction. You’ll see a withdraw success modal.

10. View Transactions

• Go to the Transactions tab or shib.io/defi/staking/transactions.
• See a table of all your staking-related transactions (stake, update, withdraw, etc).

11. FAQ

• Go to the FAQ tab or shib.io/defi/staking/faqs.
• Find answers to common questions about staking, voting power, lock periods, penalties, and more.

Important Notes
