How the Bridge Works
When you bridge tokens between networks, the circulating supply remains unchanged:- Deposit (Ethereum → Shibarium): Shibarium mints the same number of tokens (1:1) as pegged tokens when tokens leave the Ethereum network
- Withdraw (Shibarium → Ethereum): Tokens are burned on Shibarium and unlocked on Ethereum during the withdrawal process
The bridge is designed to be fast, cost-effective, and flexible while serving as a scaling solution for the Shibarium ecosystem.
Bridge Types
PoS Bridge (Recommended)
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Structure | Highly flexible |
| Deposit Time (Ethereum → Shibarium) | 15 minutes |
| Withdrawal Time (Shibarium → Ethereum) | 30 minutes |
| Security | Proof-of-Stake system secured by external validators |
| Supported Standards | ETH, ERC20, ERC721, ERC1155 and others |
Plasma Bridge
| Feature | Details |
|---|---|
| Structure | Rigid, less flexible |
| Deposit Time (Ethereum → Shibarium) | 15 minutes |
| Withdrawal Time (Shibarium → Ethereum) | 1 hour |
| Security | Shibarium’s Plasma contracts piggyback on Ethereum’s security |
| Supported Standards | Only ETH, ERC20, ERC721 |
Prerequisites
Before using the bridge, ensure you have:- A compatible crypto wallet (MetaMask recommended)
- Sufficient ETH for gas fees on the source network
- Tokens you want to bridge in your wallet
- Understanding of the bridge type you want to use
